Crissey Farm Wedding | Massachusetts Wedding Photographer

Overall, this summer has been a pretty fantastic one for weddings, in terms of weather. That was certainly the case on the day that Rebecca and Alex got married, at Crissey Farm in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. The day was bright and breezy, direct sun only peeking through every now and then – exactly what any wedding photographer would hope for.

Nestled in the Berkshires, Crissey Farm is a down-to-earth, warm and inviting venue – perfect for Rebecca and Alex. They opted to keep things pretty laid back and, while some traditions were followed, their own personal touches were also just as much a part of the day. Friends and family gathered together for the beautiful outdoor ceremony, both as guests and as participants in the wedding – Rebecca’s brother was the officiant, Alex’s sister and her partner performed during the ceremony (one of my favorite parts of the day).

After the ceremony, everyone headed indoors for dinner and dancing. As you’ll see below, the night was filled with love, laughter and some pretty great dance moves :)

Rebecca & Alex, we can’t thank you enough for letting us be a part of your day…it was an honor. All the best to you both!

Connecticut Wedding and Portrait Photographer | I’m Still Here!

I’m ashamed to see that I haven’t posted here since February. FEBRUARY! I have so many things that need to be posted. And it’s kind of good, I guess, that I haven’t yet…because that only means I’m busy with the actual shooting :)

With wedding season in full swing, I’m spending lots of time shooting and editing – and I will post those weddings properly. In the meantime, here is a shot that just proves I’m still alive 😉

New Haven Wedding Photography | Leila + Will

Blogging this wedding is WAAYY over-due, I’m afraid. But, as they say, better late than never!

Meet Leila and Will. They were married over Labor Day weekend, in New Haven, CT. After pre-wedding preparations at The Study at Yale, things moved over to Lighthouse Point Park, where they got married on the beach. The day was very overcast and humid, the skies threatened to open up at any moment. Not good for an outdoor beach wedding! But, as seems to be the trend (luckily) with the outdoor weddings that I photograph, the rain held off the entire day. And the overcast skies made for some beautiful portraits on the beach.

I can truly say that this wedding was one of my absolute favorites. Will is Jewish and Leila is not – but the couple opted for a pretty traditional Jewish wedding, adhering to many Jewish wedding customs. These customs made for a really fun and celebratory day – the tisch, the ketubah, dancing the horah. It was as much fun to watch as it likely was to participate! The carousel inside the Lighthouse Point Park banquet facility, where the reception was held, added the perfect playful and festive touch to the day.

Leila and Will were surrounded by family and friends, everyone special to them gathered in one place to celebrate the start of their journey together. Different cultures and backgrounds all happily came together as one, in perfect harmony. It was truly a magical day, one that I’m proud to have been a part of.

I wish you many, many years of magic and happiness, Leila and Will – all my best to you both!

Javien | Connecticut Newborn Photography

As mentioned in my last post, it’s time to meet sweet little Javien.

I showed up to the shoot, fully prepared to accept whatever direction the day would take. At first, it looked as though we’d have an easy time of it – Javien was peacefully sleeping and blissfully unaware of my presence. But, as anyone who does newborn photography knows, things don’t always go as planned.

After just a few shots, Javien decided it was time to wake up and check out just exactly what was going on. Well, he must’ve liked what he saw because, once he was awake, that’s how he remained…for about the next two hours 😉 Any other first-time visitor would’ve been THRILLED – because, let’s face it, sleeping babies aren’t nearly as interesting as awake babies. But newborn photographers prefer newborns to be fast asleep…and I mean, OUT COLD. That way, they can be wrapped up in all sorts of fuzzy blankets and maneuvered into cute positions, all the while remaining peacefully angelic. Javien’s mommy and daddy tried all the tricks they could think of, to coax him back to sleep. I even got in on the act. But alas…wasn’t happening. Javien wasn’t going to miss a single moment of the action.

So we waited. And waited. And waited some more. In the meantime, I was able to get what turned out to be my favorite shots of the day…Javien in his daddy’s arms. Such sweet, sweet images.

In the end, the adults outlasted little Javien and back to sleep he went. We weren’t convinced that he was totally out, so we didn’t try to go for too many different set-ups. But I’m pleased with what we were able to get out of the session…I think Mom and Dad were pleased, too 😉

Stacey | Connecticut Maternity Photography

Stacey is my hair stylist (well, one of a few wonderful stylists at Hair Gallery at The Mill who style my hair).  She asked me to shoot a maternity session with her, back in October.  We did the shoot at my favorite spot, Northwest Park. The autumn leaves were still on the trees then, which served as the perfect back-drop for Stacey’s striking hair.

Soon after that session, I photographed her beautiful newborn son (that will be the next post here on the blog).  Because Stacey wanted to give the photos as Christmas gifts, she asked me to wait to share both of these sessions publicly.  So, now that the holidays are over, I’m excited to be able to share these photos with all of you.

P.S. If you find you’re constantly asking around for recommendations for stylists, I can put an end to your search right now – forever. I’ve known the owners of Hair Gallery for over 20 years. They, and all of the stylists they work with, are simply the best you will find ANYWHERE.

Enjoy!

Carly + Trent | Wedding at Country Loft Antiques in Woodbury, CT

Finally, I’m able to catch up on blogging the beautiful weddings I had the pleasure of shooting this season!

Meet Carly & Trent. They met while studying abroad, in Rome. After dating for a while, Trent proposed over wine and cheese, their favorite.

Surrounded by friends and family, they became husband and wife on September 21st, at Country Loft Antiques in Woodbury, CT. As far as anyone could tell, the day went exactly as planned – nobody ran late, the weather cooperated, everyone was where they were supposed to be, when they were supposed to be there. The atmosphere was one of warmth, love and quiet calm.

Thank you, Carly and Trent, for letting me share in the beauty of your day.

Baby A | Connecticut Portrait Photographer

Isn’t she adorable? I met this little sweetie and her parents on the day of our session, at Northwest Park. I haven’t photographed such a little one in quite some time, so I’d forgotten all the “milestones” of a growing baby. At six months, I couldn’t remember if sitting up unassisted was a reasonable expectation. Baby A did a great job, though she did topple over once or twice 😉 It didn’t bother her at all – like a true professional, she just kept on smiling and having fun! So, enjoy Baby A and her family – you guys look awesome!!

K & J – [Maternity Portraits by Connecticut Photographer]

Baby Jaxon is due in about a month. Mom and Dad are anxiously awaiting his arrival. To help pass the time, and to document the sweet days of anticipation leading up to little Jaxon’s debut, we decided to do a maternity session. As usual, the backdrop is beautiful Northwest Park in Windsor. Enjoy!

Baby L | Connecticut Portrait Photographer

Right before the start of my busy autumn wedding photography schedule, I was lucky enough to have a portrait session with Miss Lucette. As always, this was at Northwest Park in Windsor, CT. And, as usual, it was the perfect backdrop for a great session. Miss Lucette hung in there for most of the time, giving me big smiles and happy faces.

K Family Portraits | Connecticut Portrait Photographer

The K family wanted some portraits of the kids and mom, to give to dad as a Father’s Day gift. So, as usual, I rounded everyone up and we headed over to Northwest Park in Windsor. The girls were less than thrilled to be “photo-ready” on a lazy Sunday evening…I don’t blame them, I guess. But they snapped out of it quickly and were soon enjoying posing and horsing around for the camera. These are some of my favorites…
